Someone Redefines Good vs Evil for You
The Devil gets things done through people who do his evil bidding either voluntarily, or through coercion or deceit. The Devil uses the mind and body of a man or a woman to achieve his goals. Thus, the Devil can be observed as both a he and a she.
First, Mr. or Mrs. Devil needs you to abandon your morals, integrity, and ethics, which anchor your understanding of good vs evil, love vs fake love, truth vs falsehood, etc.
With children, Mr. or Mrs. Devil first needs to create a rift between their parents and then substitute transactional love, such as the “good intentions” of various government and organizational entities or social media influencers, for unconditional parental love.
Once you’ve turned off your antennae to the high standards, you become open to various interpretations, positionalities, and justifications. Government, media, vote of the majority, economists, employers or “celebrities” hijack your moral compass. You effortlessly recalibrate your stance on an issue, sometimes even based on the hour of the day, your emotions or the emotions of others, your level of hunger, energy level, mood, etc.
When guilty conscience or remorse presents itself, you find ways to validate your actions and desensitize yourself to your inner voice guiding you.
Slowly but surely, you slide towards and start defending moral relativism. You put reason—yours or someone else’s—on the pedestal and in the process dethrone your heart.
That’s how you sign a contract with the Devil, and you don’t even know it.
The Devil Co-opts You in the Workplace
Mr. or Mrs. Devil establishes an organization to sell products or services that align with their dark, sinister vision and mission. They create roles and business processes as an ecosystem within which they can execute their vision and mission. They fill these roles with the most skilled and talented individuals.
The regular paycheck from Mr. or Mrs. Devil gives you a sense of security and stability. This is natural and welcome.
However, some may become addicted to status, power and control over others, better office, membership in special clubs, means to buy a large quantity of new or much better quality things, ability to keep up with the Joneses, etc.
This happened to Ashton. He got a nice promotion that comes with significant power over 50 something staff members, better office, and a significant increase in income.
Little by little, Mrs. Devil gets Ashton spending more and more. He feels like he’s on top of the world. He’s invincible! He got used to all the money coming in. He only lives one life, eh?
Once in a while, Mrs. Devil demands that Ashton perform tasks that make him uncomfortable—to benefit his customers or shareholders, for improved productivity, due to financial hardship, etc. Ashton complies because it’s his job and his boss said so.
Slowly but surely, Ashton turns into the kind of boss who asks others to do more and more work without increasing their compensation.
He takes advantage of the kind-hearted and generous customers while providing first-class service to the ill-tempered, self-centred, and difficult to please customers, just to avoid any potential conflict.
He promotes and sells products that he knows contain harmful or toxic ingredients.
When Ashton feels conflicted about his actions, he drowns his sorrows in alcohol or drugs. He dreams of (early) retirement.
The more such orders Ashton executes, the further Mrs. Devil pushes him!
This is How the Devil Manifests
One day, Mrs. Devil comes knocking on Ashton’s door to ask him to do something that makes him feel very uncomfortable. She asks him to force people to do something that will seriously harm or kill them in the name of some form of “good”.
Ashton is not sure how to respond to such a request. To comply or not to comply?
Mrs. Devil senses his discomfort. She pulls out a carrot. Ashton eyes the carrot and pictures how sweeter his life would be with that carrot. But, he’s still uncomfortable to do what he’s asked.
Mrs. Devil pulls out a stick. Ashton eyes the stick and pictures how bitter his life would be if that stick were to hit him.
And so Ashton grants Mrs. Devil her wish. After all, it’s just a job. He’s just doing his job, trying to survive, pay for the mortgage and his children’s education….
That’s how Mrs. Devil gets to manifest her vision and mission, while Ashton collects more points from Hell—and he doesn’t even know it…
The Devil is a master trickster!
Don’t Allow the Devil to Manifest
